Yeah, $250 is a little higher than I love, but still considered reasonable. Last year we were planning to do a Camp KidJam camp and it was going to cost kids $275 after we arranged transportation as well. I’ve found it’s much cheaper to host our own camp… typically $50-60 a night per person. After you figure in transportation, programing and paying for counselors, we end up somewhere in the $225-275 range for cost.

It is a scaling thing though. We’re planning to take 100 kids. If I could get 150-175 kids… then we could get our price closer to $225.

From the camps that we send our kids to, that’s a very reasonable price. I don’t know about your church and the camp you’re going to, but we offer scholarships to families who might have a hard time making camp work because of the cost.
We’re sending our kids to a weekend camp this winter and sent out a mailer asking parents to start saving $10/week months in advance in order to make the payment deadlines. Our parents LOVED this idea – families who once thought camp was too expensive looked at this as an easy way to fit the camp experience into their budget.
Just a thought… felt like I should say something after the second “camp is expensive” comment.

Hey Andy,
I like the early bird registration discount to help generate deposit cash. Great idea. So this means you found a place? And I thought we said that the goal was to cost no more than $225, or close to that, so if this is the discounted price, what is the full price? The amount of the discount should be noted on the card so parents will know whether or not it is worth their money to send in the deposit now, or just wait until the deadline for the actual registration?

Love it! Eyecatching – great colors- says FUN to me!
On the details on the back, I actually really like the slants. They just need to be scattered more across the bottom than crammed into bottom right corner. Open them up a little. Also, the logo on the front doesn’t bother me at its size. As a parent that doesn’t attend your church, the thing that will catch me on the front is “kids camp”. I will turn it over for more info. “kids quest” would mean nothing to me as far as giving it validation if it were bigger on the front, but seeing Gateways info on the back does.

Agree with the thoughts above…..

One other thought: the cost of the camp (though I’m sure worth every penny) BLOWS MY MIND!!! I would get ZERO response if I tried to charge this much for a summer, 4-day camp! And it’s the Early Bird Special price????
